Therefore, when we speak of skin care according to Ayurveda, we should not confuse it with SPA procedures. Therapies of this ancient medicine – facial or whole body Ayurvedic recipes, massages, pouring over, oils, herbs – are aimed at eliminating an overall health problem. Skin problems are part of it.

It should also be noted that all facial or whole body Ayurvedic recipes are environmentally friendly, there is no chemistry, the remedies are extracted directly and only from nature.

Whether it’s oily or normal, this skin is bright, prone to redness and allergies. Herbal baths are recommended in order to relieve irritation as well as massages with cooling oils from mint, chamomile, lemon balm and junipers.

Dry Vata skin has to be protected from cold external influences like low temperatures and wind. The body needs hydration and therefore the food must mainly consist of soups and stew as well as juicy fruit. Sweet, salty and sour foods are recommended; spicy, bitter and tart foods are to be avoided. Dates and walnuts are recommended and dairy products are particularly suitable.

For dry skin, take a teaspoon of almonds and mix it with half a teaspoon of powdered milk, then add a pinch of sugar.

If the skin is sensitive, then add dried and grated orange peel to the mixture. Half a teaspoon of it is mixed with a teaspoon of the ground almonds and half a teaspoon of powdered milk is added.

A quarter of the mixture is taken and together with warm water it is made into a squash directly in your hands. If the skin is too sensitive, tap water can be replaced with rose water.

The squash is applied on the face and neck and afterwards gently and in no way by rubbing the skin is massaged for about a minute.

Dry skin is rinsed with warm water. A lukewarm shower is to be used for sensitive skin.

Among the different Ayurvedic facial recipes for oily skin, you can for example use one with barley flour, dried lemon peel and powdered milk. The amount of flour is one teaspoon, the grated peel – also a teaspoon, and powdered milk – half a spoon.

A quarter of the mixture together with warm water is made into a squash in palms of the hands; afterwards it is spread on the face and neck. Massaging is done with gentle movements for about a minute. Rinse with warm water.

There are also Ayurvedic facial recipes from flowers. For example, from the petals of the marigold and powdered milk you can prepare a remedy for problems with oily skin. The mixture can also be applied for redness and rashes because it has an antibacterial antiseptic effect.

The paste is made of several marigold petals, a tablespoon of honey and some milk. It is spread on the face and left for about 15 minutes; afterwards rinse with lukewarm water.
